The Tallest Vessels

Hand-thrown ceramics, cardboard, wire, gesso, foam, rubber, plastic. metal, bottles, wood.
2021
Dimensions variable.

These vessels were made for the exhibition We Do Not Work Alone, curate by Jesse Birch at the Nanaimo Art Gallery. Invited to respond to the gallery’s west coast ceramics collection, I endeavoured to produce the tallest vessels I could throw given my skill, my equipment and my arm. Failing that, I used surrogate elements to further lift and elongate the pots, covering them in gesso to unify them.
